Emergency Preparedness – Friday’s Child

As of May 1, 2012, Virginia Department of Social Services regulations regarding adoption require that
adoptive homes have a written Emergency Preparedness Plan. The following is a series of questions to assist
you in addressing the components of such a plan. Please submit your completed plan with the other supporting
documents for your home study.

How do you plan to maintain the safety and meet the needs of the child at all times during an emergency? *

How will you ensure that the plan is reviewed with your child at least one time every six months? *

What is your plan for a responsible adult to be available to serve in the caretaker’s role in case of your planned or long-term absence? *
